The Sea Devils Summer Swim Team is a recreational team focused on fostering a fun, positive atmosphere where swimmers can develop stroke techniques and a love for swimming. The Sea Devils are a part of the Valley Swim Association (VSA) and compete in the VSA Championship meet after the summer season. Every swimmer is required to attend this fun meet. Practices are held Monday through Friday, with typically two swim meets a week.
The team participates in various invitational meets, including the County Championships, during the summer, which are optional and often require an additional fee above the summer team registration. All practices are held at the Danville Station pool. All new 8-and-under swimmers to the team will be required to complete a swim evaluation to determine team readiness. Please review the policy here.
Registration
Expectations
ALL SWIMMERS ON THE SUMMER TEAM ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND AT LEAST 5 MEETS AND THE VSA CHAMPIONSHIP MEET. Failure to meet this requirement will result in team-imposed fines, click here for more information.
Swimmers must be able to complete 1 full lap of the pool unassisted. All new 6 and under (including previous Little Devils) must complete a swim evaluation with a coach before starting practice. Check out our evaluation page to view team expectations and schedule an evaluation. Email Coach Greg with questions about Clinics or evaluations.

Equipment
Coaches ask that swimmers come to each practice with the following:
- Goggles
- Kickboard
- Fins (slips-ons, NOT straps)
- Practice suit (no baggy suits and no swim shirts)
- Cap (for those swimmers with long hair)
You can buy equipment and practice suits at our Swim Outlet Store.
In the Summer, these practice suits can be used for competitions until your summer suit is ordered. Swimmers are strongly recommended to have a team suit and cap for swim meets.
Our team store sells team caps, and our Squadlocker has options for more apparel. Families can order through Amazon or Sports Basement. First-time families should go to Sports Basement or another local sporting goods store to try on their fins.

Modified Practice Days
Modified practice days are designed to support swimmers in multiple ways. They provide an opportunity for rest and recovery, which is especially beneficial for that competitive edge. These days may also be necessary when practices are held at different facilities, as time constraints or expanded opportunities might impact the schedule. Additionally, modified practices allow swimmers to have a balanced life and enjoy essential events such as holidays or end-of-school celebrations, recognizing the need to juggle various commitments. Historically, attendance on certain days has been lower due to other obligations, sports, or holidays, making practical and considerate adjustments to the schedule.
On modified practice days, swimmers will be grouped by age groups instead of practice groups. This approach creates a stronger sense of community by allowing swimmers to practice alongside their friends. Practicing together helps build shared experiences, provides mutual support, and fosters a sense of belonging. It also encourages positive social interactions, strengthens accountability, and offers opportunities for learning from one another. By facing challenges and celebrating successes as a group, swimmers can form deeper connections and grow together.
During these modified practice days, swimmers can make the most of their time by focusing on self-care. They should prioritize eating healthy meals and snacks, staying hydrated by drinking water, and engaging in stretching or yoga using online resources. Spending quality time with family and friends is also encouraged to help swimmers feel refreshed and reconnected.
Practice Cancellation
There may be times when practice and competition are canceled. This is mainly at the discretion of the coaches and swim Team Leadership. If practice is canceled, the coaches or Team Leadership will do their best to contact families as early as possible.
Here are some guidelines:
"Excessive Heat" of a Value 4 or 104+ degrees (CDPH)
"Pool Temperature" is <76 degrees (ARC, USMS)
"Poor Air Quality" of an AQI of 150+ (ARB)
"Water Contamination" of foreign substances (CDC)
"Inclement Weather" and lightning on the forecast (NWS)
These guidelines apply: if the coaches or Team Leadership determine that practice is unsafe for any of the above reasons or additional reasons, the practice will be canceled.
No daily refunds or rebates will be offered if a practice is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, such as "Excessive Heat, Pool Temperature, Poor Air Quality, Inclement Weather, or Water Contamination."
Refunds
If you cancel your registration before the first day of practice, we will retain a $50 administrative fee. Refunds will NOT be granted after the start of each season. All refunds will be processed in batches and may take up to a month to process. Discount code refunds will NOT be granted for families that do not enter discount codes at the time of their registration.
