Swim Team Gear Requirements

VISIT OUR SWIMOUTLET PAGE FOR GEAR RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Shopping from SwimOutlet using the link above will benefit the Sea Devils!  Our team receives proceeds from purchases!

Goggles: Swimmers use goggles to protect their eyes from the chlorine as well as to gain a clear view of their surroundings in the pool. There are a variety of colors and styles depending on the preference of the swimmer. Any brand of "competition" style goggles are allowed.  Mask style goggles are not appropriate for swim team.

Swim caps: Caps are required for swimmers with long hair.  Caps are designed to keep the hair out of swimmers’ faces and also help to prevent goggle straps from slipping.  Any color latex or silicone caps for practice.  Team caps will be available to purchase at the beginning of the season.

Training Fins: Fins increase kicking speed during practice. See recommendations on our Swim Outlet page.  Training fins are different from fins used in snorkeling - snorkeling fins are not appropriate for use in practice.

Practice Suit: Practice suits are used during workouts. They are sometimes created with a stronger material for durability. Swimmers can choose any color for practice suits. Girls must wear a one piece suit and boys can choose between jammer and speedo style suits.  You can usually find inexpensive practice suits by Speedo or Sporti at Costco or Sports Basement and Big 5.

Team Suits: Team suits will be available for purchase at the beginning of the season.

Note: Save your team suit for meets and picture day. The chlorine degrades the suit quickly, so purchase a separate suit for practice. Rinse in clean water and hang to dry. Do not wash in the machine or dry in the dryer.

Optional Gear

  • Mesh Bag: A mesh bag is used by swimmers to hold their training equipment.
  • Swim Backpack: A multipurpose backpack with plenty of room for fins, towel and sweats as well as special compartments for all your aquatic accessories.
  • Sun Hat: A sun hat is a must for parents. Lifeguard hats will help you stay cool and protected while you cheer on the team.
  • Flip Flops: The chlorine will degrade the glue in your favorite leather sandals. Have some flip flops that can hold up to the splashing you will endure while you cheer on your swimmer.
  • Sweatshirt or swim parka: A sweatshirt or swim parka is recommended for those chilly practice and meet mornings (or evenings in the fall).
