By joining the Danville Sea Devils, you and your family are entering into a cooperative venture in which you play an integral role. Our program can not succeed without the efforts of all parents!
Each family will be responsible for fulfilling job credits throughout the summer season (families with only Little Devil or 15+ swimmers are exempt). The final number of job credits will be determined after registration is complete (4-6 regular season shifts + a VSA shift for all age swimmers + a shift at any invitational your swimmer attends for all age swimmers). At the time of registration, you will see a "conditional charge" added to your cart (including Team Leadership and committee members). This fee is charged only if you fail to meet your job credits. In addition to the required credits, ALL team parents (Team Leadership and Committee members and 15+ swimmer parents included) will be assigned a shift or job at the VSA Championship, as well as any Invitationals their swimmer(s) attend. All families must complete a VSA shift regardless of whether their swimmers are participating in the meet. Failure to perform your volunteer shift or leaving early will result in a minimum $175 fee charged to your family.
Types of jobs
Parents may volunteer a combination of social and meet jobs to fulfill their commitment. All families are required to fulfill 1 job shift at 3 - 5 regular-season meets (depending on the number of swim meets in the season). Certain jobs require training, a higher level of trust or experience, and may be pre-assigned. Be aware that some roles may fill quickly; therefore, we cannot guarantee that everyone will receive their first choice.
Job Expectations
All working parents must check in at the parent jobs table at least 30 minutes before the meet start time to review logistics and ensure the meet starts on time. PLEASE BE ON TIME FOR YOUR COMMITMENT!! Failure to show up, sign in on time (or leave your shift early) will cause forfeiture of your conditional fee and may jeopardize your swimmer(s) participation in future meets and events. You will be charged at least $175 for each missed shift. We have a zero-tolerance policy!
Substitutions
You may hire a volunteer substitute (sub) from our pre-approved list here. If you hire a volunteer sub, please email the parent commitment coordinator the volunteer's name and contact information, along with the date, time, and job you are assigning them. Please CC the volunteer sub on that email. Your volunteer sub MUST sign in at the parent jobs table under the name of the person they are working for.
You are responsible for your volunteer sub. Please ensure they understand they must be on time and complete their entire shift. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FAMILY TO CONTACT, CONFIRM, HIRE, AND PAY THE VOLUNTEER SUB after agreeing on the price. Families should expect to pay at least the following amount per volunteer sub-shift. If the volunteer sub does not show up or leaves early without providing proper coverage, at least a $175 fine will be charged to the card on file.
